Xslimmer is an application that can reduce the size of the Universal Binary applications.

This application keeps only the code that is required for your own platform and it removes the unused data. This way you obtain slimmer applications that matches your platform.

The interesting part is the fact that the application can slim itself. I was curious to see how it acts in a situation like that and it performed well.

The application gives you a warning on the first use. The producer recommends the backup of your applications before proceeding with the slimming action, because some of them do an integrity check and they might malfunction or fail to launch.

There is a list of protected applications that you shouldn't slim, with the reason why you shouldn't do it. The application comes with its own list and you can always check for an update. You can also drag files/folders into a protected list. The files/folders within that list is untouchable.

This version comes with some bug fixes and new features. This new features include items like the total estimated savings which are displayed in main window, or the Universal Binaries with one or more than two architectures.

Pluses: it can reduce the size of Universal Binary applications, it has a blacklist of the protected applications that it won't slim.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: a useful tool that recovers the space taken by the unused code. The producers work in order to improve this application and the feedback from the users is always welcome. The price of this application is very low, but the benefits from this application are priceless.
